Usually ships in 1 business days | | | | | | Much like the waistlines of America, the aisles of your grocery store are straining under the weight of too much food. There are more than 40,000 products lining the shelves of your local supermarket, and with every product comes a whole new host of inflated label claims: “zero trans fat!” “Cholesterol free!” “Good source of 9 vitamins and minerals!” The problem is these claims are just as bogus as the hyped-up foods they’re trying to sell. That’s where Eat This, Not That! Supermarket Survival Guide comes in. It’s your best weapon against the food industry’s effort to obfuscate the truth about the food it’s selling. Building on the popular approach of the Eat This, Not That! book series, co-authors Dave Zinczenko and Matt Goudling have scoured the aisles of the supermarkets of America, and in so doing they’ve discovered that two seemingly similar packages can house foods with vastly different nutritional profiles. They’ve also folded in all-new material that will help you pick the most nutrient-packed produce; the leanest, tastiest cuts of meat; and the least contaminated seafood at the fish counter. In this book you’ll also find: - 11 Secrets the Food Industry Doesn’t Want You to Know
- 20 Worst Packaged Foods in America
- Answers to The 5 Most Important Questions About Organic Food
- The Ultimate Sandwich Selector
- The Snack Matrix
- The Food Additive Glossary
- And the extended chapter, Drink This, Not That!

Supermarket Shopping Sep 02, 2010 I am very pleased with the book. I was not aware of much of the information, like ice cream, cake mixes, I bake frequently. I will be sure to check out most of the products before I buy. I was also surprised at deli meats. I have my favorites but will not eat them any more like bologna.I love keilbasa and hated the thoughts of giving it up but the turkey smoked will be the next purchase as well as hot dogs. Thanks for this book with all the information. I have dieted all my life but as I get older it is harder to lose any.
I have recently purchased Motts apple sauce and will be a frequent purchaser of it and also Breyer's ice cream which is as good as any ice cream I have eaten.
I also am going to purchase another of these books for a friend
Great Book and Compact Aug 20, 2010 Great Book. Easy to read and compact enough to take with you. No long, drag out section before you get to the point. Easy to read; Easy to understand.
Also, no boring recipes. Alternatives are actually good and inexpensive.
Eat This Not That Aug 10, 2010 I found this book so informative, fun, and easy to read
that I ordered one for each of my four adult children.
A Total Eye-Opener Aug 04, 2010 From cover to cover, this book is jam-packed with fantastic advice on nutrition and how to shop wisely at the supermarket.
The truth is that many people who grocery shop do not know what they are buying. When they see a certain product, they leap to conclusions about whether it is "healthy" or not based on preconceived ideas of what healthy food is. Don't buy products without reading the ingredients; if you really want to buy a healthy fruit juice, buy one that has only one or two ingredients, not one in which fruit is fourth in the list after sugars and high-fructose corn syrup.
This book demonstrates conclusively that A) you need to be smart about what you are putting into your body, B) eating healthy food does not mean becoming a vegetarian, and C) in order to lose weight one does not need to diet. There are a lot of options right there in your supermarket that can help you burn calories, build lean muscle and look and feel your best.
You got to buy this Aug 02, 2010 I first seen this book over my sister's house and went out the next day online to purchase the whole collections. I carry this book with me each time I go grocery shopping. I never leave home without it. You will love it.
